What makes Georges St-Pierre different
A lot of times you will hear fighters say "anyone, anywhere, any time". They say this as a confidence booster, intimidation tactic, and just really soaking and basking in their own egos. Which is great. Confidence is a beautiful thing. But one of the most powerful learning tools and agents of success is having the opposite mentality of humility. Taking a so-called "white belt mentality" or "beginner's mind" where you're open to the vast and limitless stream of knowledge in the universe.
That's what makes Georges St-Pierre such a successful fighter. If you hear him saying something like "anyone, anywhere, anytime", it's regarding learning. And that's a trait that has facilitated his success. The engineering of GSP is openness, vision, dedication, and work. But if he didn't have his openness he would have no progress:
I keep the white-belt mentality that I can learn from anyone, anywhere, anytime.
